Outreach

Sending forth in service!

All About Us!

In an effort to reach as many lives as we can, the Outreach Committee carries out projects that help feed the hungry, provide shelter to the homeless, and other services for those in need in the community. We help fulfill Groce UMC’s mission of building the family of God through praising God, bringing others to Christ, teaching the faith, strengthening the fellowship, and sending forth in service. Within this ministry, there are two influential subgroups:

United Women in Faith

The Women in faith represent the heart and soul of Groce United Methodist Church. They work tirelessly to raise money for a variety of mission and outreach programs. Currently, there are two active Circles – Miriam and Sarah. Some of their fundraisers include bake sales on Palm Sunday and soup sales in early spring. Miriam Circle meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 3pm in Asbury Lobby. Sarah Circle meets on the third Wednesday of the month (time and location subject to change). Please email the church for more information about these groups or refer to the Calendar tab.

United Methodist Men

The United Methodist Men are involved in a number of activities, such as serving meals at the Veteran’s Restoration Quarters, blood drives, Habitat for Humanity, ABCCM, and mission trips. The United Methodist Men meet on the first Thursday of the month at 6:30pm in the Jack Bass Classroom. On the second Wednesday of the month, they cook and serve dinner at the Vet's Restoration Quarters in East Asheville.

Services

Disaster Relief

Through organizations such as ABCCM, Habitat for Humanity, and the Vet's Quarters, we help build our community from the ground up. Our efforts during the aftermath of hurricane Helene helped feed those that were displaced in the 28805 community. We're here to help!

Family 2 Family

Our Family 2 Family team works with local schools (such as Bell Elementary and Reynolds Middle & High) to provide supplies and gifts to children and families in need. Between school supply drives and Christmas Stockings at Christmas, we make sure the children of our community are cared for!

Pumpkin Patch

Our seasonal pumpkin patch is one for the books! Stocked with not only pumpkins for carving, we have novelty gourds and mini pumpkins for families of all ages and sizes. All of the pumpkins are sourced from local farms. Come support our local missions.
