Outreach Ministry – Sending Forth in Service

“They devoted themselves to the apostles – teaching and fellowship, to breaking of bread and prayers.” – Acts 2:42

We build the family of God by enabling the congregation to reach out and touch the lest, last and lost in the following ways:

  • Support of local ministries such as ABCCM, The Vets’ Quarters, Habitat for Humanity, Room in the Inn, MANNA Food Bank.

  • Mission project support with our adults, youth, children, Sunday School Classes, United Methodist Women and United Methodist Men (see below).

  • Through the Family-to-Family Program, which includes the support of other churches in the area.

  • Through ministries beyond the local church and community, such as support of UMCOR; United Methodist Alaska Missionary, Fran Linch; and Africa University.

  • Taking part in disaster relief mission work.

United Methodist Women

The Methodist Women represent the heart and soul of Groce United Methodist Church. They work tirelessly to raise money for a variety of mission and outreach programs. Currently there are two active Circles – Miriam and Sarah. Some of their fundraisers include bake sales on Palm Sunday and at the Fall Festival.

United Methodist Men

The United Methodist Men are involved in a number of activities, such as serving meals at the Veteran’s Restoration Quarters, blood drives, Habitat for Humanity, ABCCM, and mission trips.

The Outreach Ministry helps fulfill Groce UMC’s mission of building the family of God through praising God, bringing others to Christ, teaching the faith, strengthening the fellowship, and sending forth in service.

Church members will host fun activities to help fund our missionary work. An Italian Dinner and Talent Show held in Spring 2018 attracted dozens of Groce UMC members and other local residents.

Local children love the church's Trunk-or-Treat event, where they can get Halloween candy at a safe venue.

The Pumpkin Patch is one of the most popular Outreach activities held by the church. Hundreds of local families acquire their special fall gourds from this annual event. It is a major fundraiser for the church youths' summer mission trips for local and world missions.
